Black Sage Honey by Savannah Bee Co. (3.5 Ounce) by igourmet.com

Black Sage Honey by Savannah Bee Co. (3.5 Ounce) by igourmet.com from igourmet
  • This honey never crystallizes in the bottle
  • This honey has a true fullness
  • Has notes of apple, berry, and vanilla
  • Black Sage is perfect with strong black tea
  • This honey is packaged in a 3.5 ounce jar

This extremely rare honey can be dramatically different on the eye, is always a treat on the palate, and (like Tupelo) never crystallizes in the bottle. Depending on the weather during the flowering season, Black Sage honey can end up looking like thick, sweet sauvignon blanc-a pale, cool, greenish-yellow. In the mouth, the honey has a fullness, a surprising kind of "roundness" that is utterly different from any other American honey. The flavors are distinctive, too, with notes of apple, berry, and vanilla. And as a final treat, the finish will remind die-hard honey lovers of an old European favorite. Along with the fruit and vanilla, Black Sage offers a crisp echo of tilleul, the lavender honey that goes for dollars per ounce at fancy Parisian food shops. Black Sage is perfect with strong black tea. It enhance it without running over the subtleties of the tea itself.

Ted Dennard followed the honey bees from his boyhood home in coastal Georgia, across the country and around the world. Ironically, the search for the world's best honey brought him back home where the tupelo and sourwood trees thrive and produce blue ribbon honeys known across the world.Teds company, Savannah Bee Company, brings a little bit of their honey to market in its pure and natural state. They don't filter, heat, or add anything to their honey. It comes out of the comb and into your bottle so that you have one of nature's finest foods. They go to great efforts to move colonies of bees to very remote sites in order to gather Georgia's best honeys. They chase the spring flowers and their nectar flow from location to location. April takes them to the deep swamps for Tupelo honey. In May, they take them to the coastal forests for Gallberry and Palmetto honeys. And in June, they haul the hives up into the NorthGeorgia Mountains to get Sourwood honey. We could not resist their 4 in. x 4 in. square of sealed honeycomb. Absolutely beautiful and pure, it is delicious on its own with the wax. Enjoy with biscuits, bread, hot sweet potatoes, and crackers. Serve with your favorite cheeses. The honeycomb makes a lovely cheese plate presentation at any party. Please note that the weight of the honeycomb ranges from 12-16 oz.

Savannah Bee Honey Co. Raspberry Honey - 3pc

Savannah Bee Honey Co. Raspberry Honey - 3pc from A Bountiful Harvest
  • Delicious Unique Flavored Honey

I bet you never thought you'd taste the distinctive tang of raspberries in a jar of honey. But that's what Savannah Bee's Creamed Raspberry Honey provides. We found a patch of over-achieving raspberry bushes out in the Georgia swamps one year and decided to see what would happen if we put some of our bees out there with them. The result is this honey, which (when you put it in your mouth) feels like you just bit into the best warm raspberry pie you've ever smelled, tasted, seen, or heard about. We creamed the honey to make it a perfect spread for warm toast, biscuits, or scones. If you want an unusual honey to wake up your taste buds (or your friends' and business connections' taste buds), this is the honey to buy.

Savannah Bee Honey Co. Tupelo Honey - 3pc

Savannah Bee Honey Co. Tupelo Honey - 3pc from A Bountiful Harvest
    • Delicious Unique Flavored Honey

Savannah Bee's Tupelo honey is, hands down, the Queen of the honey world, the "gold standard" of the sweetest liquid gold in the South. Harvested over two or three weeks in the early Spring, Tupelo nectar is one of the rarest and most valuable liquid resources in the world. After being concentrated by the workers, the nectar is transformed into a delicacy whose combination of strength, subtlety, and sweetness is almost impossible to describe. We think Savannah Bee's Tupelo is like a thick, slow-moving river of liquid sunshine. When you pour it from our elegant Flute into strong black tea, or onto a piece of crisp buttery toast, or over a piece of aged cheddar, you know you're in for something special. Tupelo's flavors arrive as a series of distinct impressions, a parade of melon, crème brulée, butter, dried pear, and a hint of wet stones. Underneath it all is an unmistakable herbaceous note, the barest hint of Southern Moss. The finish is long, lasting more than a minute before fading away entirely.
